What have we been crafting lately?

Friday 23 August
We made wind chimes out of tins cans and old keys.

Friday 16 August
We made catapults from tongue depressors and plastic spoons. Then we had a shooting contest to see whose pebbles where shot further.

Friday 2 August
We were inspired by the cold weather so we played with paper and made snowflakes.

AMAZE[ing] mazes from cd cases

You will need:
·         Old cd cases
·         Glue gun and glue sticks
·         Colourful pipe cleaners
·         1 sticky dot
·         A small bead

·         Tape to seal the case
Arrange your pipe cleaners into a maze pattern. Once you are happy with your arrangement, glue your pipe cleaners into position. Punch a hole through your sticky dot and stick it at the end of your maze. Place your bead inside and check that it is able to move trough your maze freely. When you are happy with your maze, close it and seal it.

Dream catchers from old cd's

What you will need:

·         Old cd’s
·         Colourful feathers
·         Assorted gems, beads and buttons
·         A hole punch
·         Baker’s twine or string

·         Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Punch 1 hole at the top of your disk; and three at the bottom. Use some string or twine to make a loop through your top hole (you will use this to hang your dream catcher up). Next tie three feathers onto the three bottom holes. Now decorate your cd any way you choose.

We made Slime

I have been meaning to post this slime recipe since we made some on February 15.

PLEASE NOTE KIDS, ADULT SUPERVISION IS DEFINITELY REQUIRED!

So here it finally is:

Ingredients:
1 Teaspoon Borax (found in the cleaning materials aisle)
1 1/2 Cups Water
1/2 Cup Clear Glue (or white craft glue)
Food colour of your choice

Equipment/Apparatus:
Small container with tight fitting lid
Craft stick
Squirt bottle or jug

Method:
Mix 1 tsp of Borax with 1 cup of water, in a jug or bottle, until dissolved. Set aside.
Take you container, pour in 1/2 cup of glue and 1/2 cup of water, mixing very well with your craft stick. Add about 4 drops of food colouring and stir again.
Now add the borax mixture to the glue mixture. Mix well and watch it coagulate.
